Set in the early 1950s, the story concerns Bill Belfry, Lord Rowcester, an English aristocrat deep in debt. His financial future depends on the problem-solving abilities of Jeeves, who is temporarily serving as Belfry's butler. Wodehouse adapted the story from a play, Come On, Jeeves, he had written with his friend and collaborator Guy Bolton. N. B.
