Ezra Pound coined the term imagistes for Aldington and his wife, Hilda Doolittle (H. D.) Aldington's poetry, championing minimalist free verse with stark images, constitutes almost one third of the Imagists's inaugural anthology Des Imagistes, in which six of these poems originally appeared.
