First Issue (with "Fo rterms" on front cover verso) of this beautifully produced (and lesser known) title by the theatre director, stage designer, actor, and dramaturge. 8vo (228 x 158mm): 73,[7]pp, with 22 full- and partial-page illustrations "setting forth the aims and objects of the movement and showing . . . the city of Florence." Original crocus yellow wrappers, titles and designs to both covers in black, pages uncut. In 1908, Isadora Duncan introduced Gordon Craig to Konstantin Stanislavski, founder of the Moscow Art Theatre, who invited him to co-direct their famous production of Hamlet, which opened in December 1911. Soon after, Craig settled in Italy, where he created a school of theater design with support from Lord Howard de Walden, the Arena Goldoni in Florence. N. B.
